Rishabh Pant Fined Rs 66 Lakh for Slow Over Rate in IPL 2025, Despite Scoring Century

Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant faced a significant setback in IPL 2025, losing Rs 66 lakh in fines due to repeated slow over rate violations. The latest fine of Rs 30 lakh came after the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 27 May, marking the third time this season Pant has been penalized for this issue.
Breakdown of Fines:

First Offense: Rs 12 lakh fine in the match against Mumbai Indians on 5 April.

Second Offense: Rs 24 lakh fine, again against Mumbai Indians on 27 April.

Third Offense: Rs 30 lakh fine against RCB on 27 May.
Together, these fines sum up to Rs 66 lakh.
Additional Fines:
Not just Pant, but other players from the Lucknow Super Giants’ playing eleven, including the impact player, were fined Rs 6 lakh or 25% of their match fee (whichever was less) for the slow over rate in the match against RCB.
Despite the Fine, Pant’s Performance Shone:
In the match against RCB, Rishabh Pant played a spectacular unbeaten innings of 118 runs off 61 balls. However, even with his heroic effort, LSG ended up losing the game, overshadowed by the costly slow over rate fines.
