Who can apply? (Educational Qualification)

The Railways have prescribed the following educational qualifications for different posts:

Technician Grade-I (Signal)

  • Candidate must have a B.Sc degree in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, IT or Instrumentation from a recognized university.
  • Apart from this, candidates having BE, B.Tech or 3 year Polytechnic Diploma in relevant trade/subjects will also be fully eligible for this post.

Technician Grade-III (S&T Trade)

  • Candidate must have passed 12th class (Intermediate) with Physics and Maths (PCM) subjects.
  • Apart from this, 10th pass candidates who have ITI certificate in relevant trade from NCVT or SCVT recognized institute can also apply.

Other Technician Grade-III Posts

  • Along with passing 10th, it is mandatory to have ITI certificate in the relevant technical trade.

Age Limit & Salary Structure

Age Limit

Age will be calculated as on 1st July 2026 for this recruitment:

  • Technician Grade-I Signal: Minimum age should be 18 years and maximum age should be 33 years.
  • Technician Grade-III: Minimum age is 18 years and maximum age is 30 years.
  • Note: Candidates belonging to reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/PWD) will be provided relaxation in maximum age limit as per government rules.

Salary Structure

Selected candidates will get excellent salary package under 7th Pay Commission (7th CPC):

  • Technician Grade-I Signal: This post falls under Pay Level 5 with a starting basic pay of Rs 29,200 per month (allowances extra).
  • Technician Grade-III: This post falls under Pay-Level 2 with a starting basic pay of Rs 19,900 per month .

  • General, OBC and EWS category: Rs 500
  • SC, ST and PWD category: Rs 250
  • Fee payment will be accepted through online mode only (Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card or UPI).

Selection Process

The final selection of candidates for the posts of Railway Technician will be done after clearing three rigorous stages:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT): Firstly the candidates have to pass the online written test.
  2. Document Verification (DV): The documents of the students who qualify in the merit list will be verified.
  3. Medical Examination: Physical and Eye test will be conducted as per the prescribed medical standards of Railways.
