A recent development in the stock market shows how quickly fortunes can change when a major business group steps in. Shares of Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited have seen a sharp rally after a key deal involving Adani Group, delivering nearly 27% returns to investors in just one month.
The trigger behind this surge is a major acquisition. In March 2026, the National Company Law Tribunal approved a ₹14,535 crore deal where Adani Enterprises acquired Jaiprakash Associates Limited (JAL), which was undergoing insolvency proceedings.
This deal has a direct connection to JP Power. Jaiprakash Associates is the promoter company of JP Power and holds around a 24% stake in it. With Adani Group taking control of JAL, JP Power’s assets—including its thermal and hydroelectric plants—are now indirectly backed by one of India’s strongest corporate groups. This has significantly boosted investor confidence.
Looking at the numbers, the stock is currently trading around ₹17 and has shown strong momentum. It has gained nearly 12% in just one week and about 27% over the past month. Over a one-year period, the stock has delivered returns of around 16.5%. Its 52-week range reflects volatility, with a high of ₹27.70 and a low of ₹12.52, but the recent rally indicates renewed market interest.
Founded in 1994, JP Power operates in power generation, coal mining, and cement grinding. The company has a total installed capacity of 2,220 MW, including the Vishnuprayag Hydro Project in Uttarakhand, the Bina Thermal Plant in Madhya Pradesh, and the Nigri Supercritical Thermal Plant in Singrauli. A significant portion of its power is already tied up through long-term agreements, while the rest is sold in the open market.
Market experts believe that JP Power already has strong infrastructure in place. With the financial backing and operational expertise of the Adani ecosystem, the company could see improvements in efficiency, debt reduction, and profitability over time.
