Reports suggest that Ajay Devgn has postponed the release of Son of Sardar 2, while Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming film trailer launch has been rescheduled. Amid this frenzy, a new buzz surfaced — that Kartik Aaryan’s film with director Anurag Basu may have been delayed due to similarities with Saiyaara.

Is Kartik Aaryan’s Film Postponed Because of ‘Saiyaara’?

Kartik had earlier worked on a musical love story co-starring Sreeleela, set to release around Diwali 2025. However, rumors suggested that the makers were reconsidering the release timeline due to Saiyaara’s strikingly similar theme of music and romance. Some sources claimed the film may now be pushed to 2026.

Anurag Basu Clears the Air

Director Anurag Basu, speaking to India Today, denied these speculations. While acknowledging the buzz, he subtly dismissed the idea that the delay was due to Saiyaara’s success. Basu hinted that the postponement is more about scheduling conflicts, especially since Kartik Aaryan is currently busy with Karan Johar’s film Tu Meri Main Tera opposite Ananya Pandey.

He further clarified that parts of Kartik’s musical film had been rewritten, but this had nothing to do with avoiding comparisons with Saiyaara. Basu also stated that although both films center around music and romance, the stories are vastly different. “I’ve known Mohit Suri’s script for a long time,” he added, noting that there’s no overlap that would surprise or worry him.
