SBI alerts customers! Your bank balance could drop to zero; be careful if you're using the YONO app

Digital banking has made our lives much easier these days. Yet, as time goes on, the threat of fraudsters is also increasing. An important alert has been issued for millions of customers of the country's largest bank, the State Bank of India (SBI). Specifically, a message is currently going viral on social media; it warns SBI customers that if they don’t update their Aadhaar detail immediately, their YONO app will stop working. Seeing such a message could cause panic, fearing that their banking services might be cut off. However, it's crucial to keep a calm mind during such times. This could be a trap. Let's find out the truth.

'APK' File Link
This viral message is often accompanied by a link to an 'APK' file; it claims that simply installing this file will allow you to update your Aadhaar details. Without completing this process, customers are being threatened that they will not be able to access their bank accounts through the app. When the matter came to the attention of the Press Information Bureau, they immediately investigated the matter and clarified that there is no truth to this viral news; furthermore, no such order has been issued by the government or SBI.

Trap laid by cyber criminals
The fact is that this whole thing is a well-planned trap of cyber criminals, whose aim is to steal your personal information by creating fear. SBI has also clearly said that the bank never asks its customers to download any unknown file over the phone or through WhatsApp. As per the bank's rules, the bank will never ask you for very confidential information like your Aadhaar number, banking password or OTP. If someone asks you for such details, then you should understand that the person in front of you is not a bank official, but a fraudster.

Customers need not panic.
Officials have clarified that there is no need for customers to panic about such fraudulent messages; as these messages are completely fake and fraudulent. Clicking on unknown links can seriously compromise your mobile's security. Files sent by cyber thieves can not only steal data from your phone, but they can also take complete control of your bank account. Once your phone is hacked, both your privacy and your financial transactions are at risk.

Stay away from tempting offers.
Always remember that large institutions like SBI fully respect the privacy of their customers. They will never ask for your information through informal or unsecured means. If you want to protect your money and your identity, stay away from messages and tempting offers from strangers. In this digital age, your own awareness is the real shield against your financial security; therefore, always be vigilant and practice safe banking practices.
