Shefali Verma has made a powerful return to form in the ICC Women’s T20I rankings, delivering a proud moment for Indian cricket fans. In the latest rankings announced by the ICC, Shefali has climbed back into the top 10, securing the 9th spot after her explosive performance in the five-match T20I series against England.
Shefali’s batting was nothing short of outstanding during the series. She scored 176 runs across five matches at a blistering strike rate of 158.55. Her innings included a crucial half-century, along with 29 fours and 3 sixes, showcasing her fearless approach and ability to dominate bowlers. This performance helped her surpass some of the biggest names in women’s cricket, including Alyssa Healy, Nat Sciver, and Amelia Kerr.
With this jump, Shefali joins fellow Indian opener Smriti Mandhana in the elite list of top-ranked T20 batters. Mandhana continues to hold on to the third position in the rankings, maintaining her consistency and form at the international level. At the top of the list remains Australia’s Beth Mooney, who has retained her number one ranking.
In the bowling department, however, the latest update brought mixed results for India. Deepti Sharma dropped one place and now stands at third among the top T20I bowlers. Meanwhile, Renuka Thakur suffered a significant setback, falling five spots and dropping out of the top 10 altogether. Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal has taken the number one spot among T20I bowlers.
Overall, while Indian bowlers face a slight dip in rankings, Shefali Verma’s resurgence adds renewed strength to India’s batting lineup, and her return to the top 10 signals her growing stature in world cricket.
