A spine-chilling murder case has emerged from Nawada, Bihar, where a 40-year-old woman, missing for 24 days, was found dead — and the accused is reportedly her own daughter-in-law. The remains of the woman, identified as Kiran Devi of Navdih village (Mesraur police station area), were discovered on a hill in Kachhara village under Gaya district, near her maternal village.

Disappearance After a Visit to the Doctor

On June 8, Kiran Devi had gone to Tungi for medical treatment with her daughter-in-law, Kacho Devi. However, only the daughter-in-law returned. When questioned, she casually told the family that she had no idea where her mother-in-law had gone. Suspicious but helpless, the family searched for days before lodging a missing person report.

Grim Discovery in the Jungle

The breakthrough came on July 3, when two locals ventured into the forest to collect twigs and stumbled upon human remains. Police were alerted immediately. Near the skeleton, authorities recovered Kiran Devi’s Aadhaar card, bank passbook, purse, house keys, and a locket. Her family identified the body from these belongings and her clothing.

Family Suspects Foul Play

The family has strongly accused daughter-in-law Kacho Devi of the murder. They revealed that Kiran Devi was against her son Sunny Kumar’s love marriage to Kacho. This, they believe, may have led to her being eliminated. The motive appears to be deep-seated resentment and ongoing tension between the two women.

Investigation Underway

The police have sent the skeletal remains to Sadar Hospital for forensic examination. A formal investigation is underway to confirm the exact cause of death and determine whether the murder was premeditated. While no arrests have been made yet, the daughter-in-law is under suspicion, and questioning is expected soon.
