Sonam Exploited Raja Raghuvanshi’s Trekking Hobby to Trap and Murder Him, Reveals Brother

The investigation into the brutal murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya continues to unravel new twists. Both Sonam Raghuvanshi and her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha have confessed involvement in the crime, and the Meghalaya Police SIT team is preparing to interrogate them face to face with a list of 25 questions.

Meanwhile, Raja’s brother Vipin Raghuvanshi has revealed a chilling detail: Sonam used Raja’s love for trekking as a weapon to lure him into a deadly trap. According to Vipin, Sonam was well aware of Raja’s passion and exploited it to take him to Meghalaya under false pretenses. There, along with Raj Kushwaha and three others, she orchestrated Raja’s murder.

Vipin also shared that Sonam maintained contact with Raj even during wedding preparations, as seen from their chat records. The conspiracy to kill Raja reportedly began as early as May 13, days after the wedding, with Sonam expressing distress over her relationship with Raja and urging Raj to kill him.

Vipin said, “At 3 AM, Sonam’s messages to Raj said, ‘I am tired of torture. Either I will die or you kill him. I cannot have a relationship with Raja. I am feeling guilty, kill him.’ Raj agreed, saying, ‘I will do it.’”

Following their plan, Sonam forcibly took Raja from Assam to Shillong, disguised as a honeymoon trip. There, she and the hired killers murdered Raja and disposed of his body in a ditch before fleeing.

Despite the confessions, police remain uncertain about who masterminded the murder. Shillong DIG Eastern Range DNR Mark noted that Sonam is providing misleading information and sometimes acts emotionally during interrogation to gain sympathy. She shifts blame onto Raj Kushwaha, while Raj claims he was the mastermind.

Currently, both suspects are being interrogated separately. However, police plan to conduct joint questioning soon to uncover the full truth.
