Calls like "Your credit card will be closed," "Take a loan," "Do KYC," and so on have become a headache for many people. Even if you block the number, the call comes back from another number, leaving you with the same boring call recording. But now the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has taken a major step to curb these useless and automated calls.

What are A2P calls ?

These are calls made through software, recorded calls, or automated systems. Therefore, according to the new rules, A2P calls may incur a termination charge of up to 5 paise per minute.

Who actually has to pay 5 paise?

TRAI has set a minimum termination charge of 5 paise per minute for A2P calls. However, the actual call charges may be determined by the commercial agreement between the respective telecom companies, and calls between those companies will be charged accordingly.

AI will monitor spam calls.
TRAI has not only invested money but is also using AI to monitor these calls. Telecom companies have also been instructed to use technologies like AI and machine learning to identify suspected spam calls. Furthermore, if there are a large number of spam calls, they will be detected using AI.

The new rules will completely stop calls.
The new rules won't completely stop calls, but they are likely to stop them to some extent. TRAI's rule will make it easier to identify and take action on calls.
