The Supreme Court has released an official notification for the recruitment of 15 Court Master (Shorthand) positions. Eligible candidates can submit their applications offline or by email by October 27, 2026.

Eligibility and educational qualification

Educational Qualification: Candidate must have a Graduation degree from a recognized university.
Shorthand Speed: A speed of 120 words per minute (wpm) in English shorthand is required.
Typing Speed: Knowledge of computer operation and a typing speed of 40 words per minute is required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of regular service experience in the post of Private Secretary, Senior PA, PA, or Senior Stenographer in High Court or District Courts.
Age Limit: The maximum age of the candidate should not exceed 56 years as on October 1, 2026.

Selection process

Shorthand Skill Test: English shorthand test at a speed of 120 wpm (maximum 5% mistakes allowed).
​Interview/Interaction: Candidates who qualify the skill test will be called for an interview.
​ACRs/APARs and Vigilance Clearance for the last 5 years will be reviewed.

How to apply

Candidates must complete the application form in the prescribed proforma and route it through their respective High Court.
Scanned copies must be emailed to recruitment.cell@sci.nic.in for initial scrutiny.
The completed application form, along with the original documents, must then be mailed to Recruitment Cell, Supreme Court of India, Tilak Marg, New Delhi - 110001.
