SUV Segment Heats Up: Tata and Mahindra to Launch 5 Facelift Models Before Diwali 2025

India’s SUV market is set for more excitement as Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra gear up to launch several updated models in the coming months. Over the next three to four months, both automakers are introducing facelifts and feature upgrades to some of their most popular SUVs, increasing competition in the segment.


Tata Punch Facelift

The 2025 Tata Punch facelift is expected to feature design cues inspired by the Punch EV. Updates may include:

  • New front grille and tweaked bumpers

  • Redesigned headlamps and LED tail lamps inspired by the Altroz

  • Updated alloy wheels and tailgate design

  • Interior upgrades such as a two-spoke steering wheel, ventilated front seats, blind spot monitor, 8-speaker music system, and six airbags

Engine options will remain the same, with the existing 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol and CNG variants. The facelift is expected to launch in October 2025.


Tata Harrier and Safari Petrol

The Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs will receive an all-new 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine:

  • Power: 170 bhp at 5,000 rpm

  • Torque: 280 Nm between 2,000–3,500 rpm

  • Transmission: Manual and automatic gearbox options

These updates aim to enhance performance while retaining the SUVs’ premium appeal. Launches are expected in November 2025.


Mahindra Bolero and Bolero Neo Facelifts

The 2025 Mahindra Bolero and Bolero Neo facelifts have been spotted testing, showcasing several design and feature upgrades:

  • Bolero Neo: Larger 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging pad, ventilated seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Keyless Go with push-button start

  • Engine: Existing 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder mHawk diesel producing 100 bhp and 260 Nm of torque

These upgrades aim to modernize the interiors while retaining the SUVs’ reliable diesel engines.


Mahindra Thar Facelift

The 2025 Mahindra Thar facelift retains the current engine lineup, including:

  • 2.0-liter turbo petrol

  • 1.5-liter turbo petrol

  • 2.2-liter turbo diesel

Key exterior and interior updates include:

  • New grille with double-stacked slots

  • Updated alloy wheels

  • C-shaped LED headlamps and tail lamps

  • Interior enhancements: 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless charger, grab handles on A-pillars, and door-inlaid power window switches


With these updates, Tata and Mahindra are strengthening their SUV lineups with modern design cues, upgraded features, and improved technology, ensuring a competitive edge in the growing Indian SUV market ahead of Diwali 2025.
