There are nine days left until August ends. And with it, deadlines for some important tasks are also approaching. If you haven't completed these tasks yet, don't delay. Missing these deadlines could result in fines or unnecessary difficulties. Especially if you're earning extra income alongside your job, running a business, or earning through social media, these tasks could be crucial. Let's learn more about them.
Income Tax Returns
If your income comes from a business rather than a job and your accounts are not required to be audited, the deadline for filing your income tax return is August 31, 2026. This includes those who earn through YouTube, Instagram, freelance work, or other means. File your return on time, providing accurate income details. If you file your return after the deadline, you may have to pay an additional amount.
Check your complete income statement. If
your income isn't limited to just your salary, review all your income. Consider bank interest, income from shares or other investments, house rent, or earnings from social media. Often, income isn't shown on returns. Therefore, it's important to check your bank account and relevant documents before filing your return.
Check your credit card's new rules.
If you use a credit card, check to see if your bank has implemented any new rules in August. Banks often reduce benefits on certain transactions or introduce new charges for certain services. Customers who use credit cards for rent, insurance, education, government payments, and other expenses should especially review the new card rules.
Update your bank account information.
Check that your mobile number, email address, and other important information on your bank account are correct. If your bank has asked you to update any documents, complete them promptly. Also, monitor your account transactions. If you notice any suspicious transactions that you didn't make, contact your bank immediately.
