The group stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 is nearing its conclusion, with the Super 8 round set to begin from February 20. Before that, India cricket team will play their final league match on February 18 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
In this encounter, India will take on the Netherlands cricket team—a side they have never faced in a T20 match on home soil. Interestingly, India have played just one T20 international against the Netherlands so far, making this clash a rare and unique fixture.
India vs Netherlands: A rare T20 meeting
The only previous T20 meeting between the two teams came during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Sydney, where India registered a comprehensive 56-run victory. Since then, the two sides have not crossed paths in the shortest format, and this Ahmedabad match will mark their first-ever T20 encounter in India.
India have already sealed their Super 8 qualification with three consecutive wins and will be aiming to carry momentum forward. For the Netherlands, this match represents their final opportunity in the group stage to make an impact.
Seven Indian players to face Netherlands for the first time
An interesting aspect of this match is the lack of prior experience against the Netherlands within the Indian squad. Only Suryakumar Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya have previously played a T20 match against the Dutch side. As a result, at least seven players are expected to experience facing the Netherlands for the first time in T20 cricket.
The match will begin at 7:00 PM IST, with the toss scheduled for 6:30 PM IST. India will be keen to wrap up the group stage with another win and enter the Super 8s on a high.
