In this technological age, where artificial intelligence (AI) is making many of our tasks easier, cybercriminals are exploiting it to target people. These days, cases of fraud involving the use of AI voice cloning and deepfake to impersonate someone's voice and face are increasing rapidly.
If you suddenly receive a call from someone you know and he asks you to transfer money immediately citing an accident or any emergency, then be careful.
How to spot AI fraud and voice cloning?
Pay attention to the tone of voice: AI cloned voices can often have slightly robotic sound, unusual pauses, or 't give the victim a chance to think or talk to anyone else and put immense pressure on them to send money immediately.
Ask for personal details: If you have any doubts about a relative's voice, ask them an old question or family secret that only they know.
To avoid online fraud, immediately follow these safety tips
: Verify by making another call: Cut the call and find out the truth by calling the other number of that person or any member of his family.
Avoid video calls from unknown numbers: If someone makes a video call on WhatsApp or other apps from an unknown number, avoid sharing a screenshot of your screen or your face.
Create a family secret code: Establish an 'Emergency Passcode' with your family members that will only be used to verify identity when needed.

If you become a victim of any kind of online financial fraud, immediately call the Cyber Helpline Number 1930 or visit cybercrime.gov.in to lodge your complaint.
