The year 2026 has already begun, and some Indian cricketers may announce their retirement this year. Just like last year, two prominent players from Team India, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, retired from Test cricket.
Five Indian Cricketers Can Retire This Year: Many star players have been out of the Indian team for a long time. Many of these players are young, but they are out of the team due to poor form. In such a situation, their return can only happen in the future due to good performance. At the same time, there are some players who have reached the age of retirement. Now, it seems impossible for these players to return to Team India. It is believed that they may announce their retirement from international cricket this year. Here we are going to tell you about those five players who may announce their retirement this year.
These 5 Indian cricketers may retire in the year 2026
1. Ishant Sharma
Fast bowler Ishant Sharma made his debut for India in 2007. He played his last international match in 2021. The 37-year-old has 311 Test wickets, 115 ODI wickets, and 8 T20 International wickets.
2. Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane, who will be 38 years old in June 2026, now seems almost impossible to return to Team India. Despite having previously captained the Indian cricket team, Rahane still plays domestic cricket for Mumbai. Rahane has played 85 Tests, 90 ODIs, and 20 T20 Internationals for India.
3. Umesh Yadav
Fast bowler Umesh Yadav, who is currently out of Team India's league, has been completely excluded from the selectors' scheme of things. He now plays only a few matches for Vidarbha in domestic cricket. Umesh, who has taken 288 wickets for India in international cricket, was once the team's fastest bowler.
4. Manish Pandey
Manish Pandey is the first Indian batsman to score a century in the IPL. He has played 20 ODIs and 39 T20 Internationals for India. He also missed domestic cricket this season. As a result, speculation is rife that he may announce his retirement.
5. Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal was once considered a leading spin bowler for Team India. He was also part of the team that won the 2024 T20 World Cup. However, he hasn't played any international matches since 2023. Consequently, Chahal's path to Team India has been virtually closed.
