In a bizarre and brazen incident, two men dressed as Kanwariyas stole two boxes of curd from outside a dairy shop in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The entire act was captured on CCTV, and the footage has since gone viral, sparking anger among locals.

Thieves Came with Saffron Flag on Bike

The incident took place outside Narula Dairy in the Nawabganj area under Nagar Kotwali on Sunday morning, before the shop had opened. Around 5 to 6 AM, a company vehicle had dropped off four boxes of curd outside the dairy. Shortly afterward, two young men arrived on a motorcycle, dressed like Kanwariyas — complete with saffron attire and a saffron flag mounted on their bike.

One of the men kept watch while the other swiftly picked up two boxes of curd, and the duo fled the scene on their bike — apparently unaware that a CCTV camera mounted outside the shop had caught the entire theft on tape.

Dairy Owner Raised Alarm After Discrepancy

When the dairy owner arrived later that morning, he noticed that only two boxes of curd were left. Initially confused, he contacted the curd supplier, who confirmed that four boxes had indeed been delivered. Suspicious, the dairy operator checked the CCTV footage and discovered the theft.

The video clearly showed the two disguised men committing the act.

Police Investigation Underway

The city Kotwali police were immediately informed, and the dairy owner handed over the CCTV footage as evidence. According to police officials, a search operation is underway to trace the culprits using the visual evidence.

The unusual method of disguise has drawn attention from local residents, many of whom have expressed outrage over criminals misusing religious attire to commit theft. The incident has also raised concerns about security lapses during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra season, when many pilgrims travel on foot or bike across cities.
