This disease kills more men than women, this study is very scary

The death rate of men due to broken heart syndrome is double. This has been found in a new study. Researchers have expressed concern about its danger. Also, they have talked about preparing better treatment options.

Men are more likely to die from heart failure caused by tension. This disease is also known as broken heart syndrome. This was revealed in a new study, which said that the death rate due to broken heart syndrome is twice as high in men as in women.

Intense emotions can cause a condition like a heart attack

Let us tell you that broken heart syndrome is also called Takotsubo cardiomyopathy in medical language. Actually, intense emotions come to mind when one gets the news of the death of a loved one. This condition of the heart is considered similar to a heart attack.

Research done on so many people

Due to this, symptoms like chest pain, difficulty in breathing, increased heartbeat and in many cases irregular heartbeat are also seen. If not treated on time, it can cause a lot of trouble. It can even lead to death. This study has been published in the Journal of American Heart Association, in which research was done on about two lakh Americans from 2016 to 2020.

What is the mortality rate among men?

Researchers observed that the mortality rate due to this disease was 6.5 percent. However, there was no improvement in this during the five years. The mortality rate among women suffering from this disease was 5.5 percent, while the mortality rate among men was 11.2 percent.

How dangerous is this disease?

The author of the study, Dr. Mohammad Reza Movahed, is an interventional cardiologist and a professor at the University of Arizona's Sarver Heart Center. He said that Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is a very serious disease, in which the risk of death is very high. He said that the mortality rate due to this disease is continuously increasing, which is a serious situation. He has demanded research for its treatment.

Which people are more at risk?

Research has revealed that this disease is very fatal for people above 61 years of age. At the same time, people between 46 and 60 years of age are found to have 2.6 to 3.25 times more chances of developing this disease as compared to young people between 31 and 45 years of age.

What causes more deaths?

During the research, many types of serious problems were observed in the patients. In such cases, 35.9 percent people died of congestive heart failure, 20.7 percent people died of atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat), 6.6 percent people died of cardiogenic shock, 5.3 percent stroke and 3.4 percent people died of cardiac arrest. Movahed has emphasized that with the help of early treatment and investigation, many of these serious problems can be prevented.
