This warrior from Ramayana was even more powerful than Hanuman, and even Rama's army was exhausted trying to stop him

When it comes to the most powerful warriors of the Ramayana, the first name that comes to mind is Lord Hanuman. However, few people know that there was a warrior in Lanka who was considered even more dangerous and powerful than him.

That warrior was none other than Ravana's eldest son Meghnad, known as Indrajit.

According to the Ramayana, Meghnad was considered a warrior more fearsome than Ravana or Kumbhakarna. Sage Agastya himself once told Lord Rama that Meghnad was the most powerful warrior in the entire kingdom of Lanka. His strength wasn't limited to physical prowess—he was also a master of mystical weapons and magical combat.

Using his divine and magical weapons, Meghnad stunned Lord Rama's entire monkey army. There were moments during the battle when even mighty warriors like Lord Rama and Hanuman tried to stop him. His battle tactics were extremely dangerous, as he could attack his enemies while remaining invisible. Meghnad received the title "Indrajit" from Lord Brahma. According to the story, he defeated Lord Indra in battle, hence the name Indrajit, which means "conqueror of Indra." Lord Brahma also granted him a powerful boon—but that boon ultimately led to his downfall.

In granting the boon, Brahma stipulated that Meghnad could only be killed by a warrior who had not slept for fourteen years. This condition made him virtually invincible, as such a person was nearly impossible to find.

However, during the fourteen years of exile, Lord Rama's younger brother Lakshmana gave up sleeping completely while protecting his brother and sister-in-law.

Finally, fate took its course: Lakshmana faced Meghnad in battle and, fulfilling the condition of Brahma's boon, finally defeated and killed him.

Meghnad wasn't just a demon prince—he was a symbol of immense strength, rigorous penance, and divine blessings. His story reminds us that no matter how powerful one becomes, injustice and wrongdoing ultimately lead to defeat.
