Torrential Rains Ravage Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 8 Dead, 21 Injured

Heavy rains and strong winds have caused severe devastation across Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, leaving at least 8 people dead and 21 injured. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed that among the deceased are five men, two women, and a child, while the injured include 10 men, 5 women, and 6 children.
Since May 27, torrential downpours accompanied by fierce winds have battered multiple districts including Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Shangla, Swat, Torghar, Mohmand, Mansehra, and Haripur. The extreme weather has damaged at least 25 houses, with one completely destroyed and 24 others partially damaged. Fallen trees and structural damage have further worsened the situation.
The PDMA has urged district authorities to provide urgent relief and ensure proper medical care for the injured. The Emergency Operation Center remains fully active, and residents are encouraged to report incidents immediately via helpline 1700. The heavy rains and storms are expected to continue until May 31.
