A wave of shock and grief has hit the Tamil film industry following a catastrophic accident on the sets of actor-director SJ Suryah’s upcoming pan-India project, Killer. A high-octane bomb blast sequence took a devastating turn, claiming the life of a 26-year-old crew member and leaving three others fighting for their lives in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The tragedy occurred during the early hours of Wednesday at Chennai's historic Binny Mills in the Perambur area, where filming had been underway for several days.

Chaos at 5 AM: Cylinder Explosion Stuns Crew

According to reports, the crew was filming a simulated explosion sequence around 5:00 AM when a gas cylinder unexpectedly blasted on set, instantly injuring four technicians.

The crew members rushed the injured victims to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital. Tragically, doctors declared 26-year-old Madan, a resident of Maduravoyal, brought dead. The other three technicians sustained severe injuries and are currently undergoing critical care:

• Sakthivel (27) – Serious condition, currently in ICU

• Surya (23) – Serious condition, currently in ICU

• Dinakaran (24) – Serious condition, currently in ICU

Police Launch Investigation into Safety Lapses

The local police have officially registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation into the disaster. Authorities are examining the incident from all angles to determine exactly what triggered the cylinder blast.

Key areas of the police probe include:

• Safety Compliance: Assessing whether the production house was strictly adhering to standard government safety protocols for filming explosive stunts.

• Technical Malfunction: Investigating if a structural or mechanical fault in the equipment caused the premature detonation.

Madan's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. While condolences have been pouring in from across the industry for the grieving family, the makers of Killer have yet to release an official statement regarding the safety lapse.
