A dramatic scene unfolded in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, when a young man's funeral was abruptly stopped following serious allegations by his brother. The deceased’s body, already placed on the pyre for cremation, was removed by the police and sent for post-mortem.
The incident occurred in the Ramgarh area on Wednesday evening. The man, 40-year-old Indresh Kumar, reportedly died after consuming a large amount of alcohol. His in-laws brought his body to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Without conducting a post-mortem, the family took the body home and began preparing for the final rites.
Indresh had been living in a rented house in the Nagla Bari area of Vijay Nagar with his wife Urmila and her three children. The couple had entered into a court marriage two years ago.
As funeral preparations were underway and the body was taken to the crematorium, chaos erupted. Indresh’s brother, suspecting foul play, informed the police. Acting on the tip-off, officers arrived at the cremation ground, stopped the rites, and seized the body for further investigation.
Allegations of Suspicious Circumstances
The deceased’s brother claimed that Indresh’s death did not appear to be natural. He alleged that there might be more to the story than what was being told. He also mentioned that Urmila, Indresh’s wife, already had three children before marrying his brother.
Following these allegations, the police have now sent the body for a post-mortem examination. The final report is awaited, and the matter remains under investigation. The incident has left the community in shock, raising questions over the circumstances of Indresh Kumar’s death.
