Weather Update: Heavy rain and storm alert in 15 states, know where it will rain

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that severe weather is expected across large parts of the country over the next few hours. Heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are expected in many areas, so officials have advised people to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel during the inclement weather.

According to the latest forecast, wind speeds could reach 70 km/h in some areas, increasing the risk of falling trees, power outages, and reduced visibility. The department has also warned residents about the possibility of lightning strikes and urged them to stay indoors whenever thunderstorms approach.

Weather alert for several states

The IMD has issued weather advisories for several states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Bihar, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Kerala. The national capital and the surrounding NCR region are expected to experience intermittent rain and cloudy skies in the coming days. Thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds are expected to bring relief from the high temperatures.

In Uttar Pradesh, cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Muzaffarnagar, Etawah, and Shahjahanpur are also expected to experience light to moderate rain, with isolated heavy showers possible. The weather is expected to cool as monsoon activity strengthens across the state.

Monsoon active in Rajasthan

Monsoon conditions are expected to remain active in Rajasthan. Cities like Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Bharatpur, Bikaner, and Jodhpur may experience moderate to heavy rainfall over the next few days. Eastern parts of the state are expected to receive the heaviest rainfall, while weather activity will remain subdued.
