The national capital is gripped by fear and tension once again as multiple educational institutions continue to receive bomb threats, prompting sharp criticism from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). After two prominent schools in Delhi received threats on Monday, St. Thomas School and St. Stephen's College of Delhi University were targeted on Tuesday. These recurring threats have raised alarm bells about the city’s law and order situation.
Arvind Kejriwal Hits Out at BJP
AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal took to social media to strongly criticize the BJP-led central government, calling the threats deeply concerning and a sign of complete administrative failure. Referring to the "four-engine" BJP government — a term used to describe the BJP’s power at the Center, Delhi LG office, police, and MCD — Kejriwal asked:
"What is happening in Delhi? Yesterday two schools received bomb threats and today another school and college have received threats. Children are scared, parents are extremely worried."
He added that the law and order system has completely collapsed under the BJP’s watch.
AAP’s Atishi Calls Situation "Scary and Worrying"
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Atishi echoed Kejriwal's concerns. She said these repeated threats are not just troubling but terrifying, especially for school-going children and their families. She questioned whether the safety of students and teachers means anything to the BJP government, highlighting that even the basic security of educational institutions is now under threat.
“What Is Safe If Schools Aren’t?” Asks AAP’s Ankush Narang
Opposition leader in the Delhi Municipal Corporation, Ankush Narang, also voiced concern, stating:
“If schools are not safe in the national capital, then what is?”
He emphasized that parents are sending their children to school with fear, and the psychological impact on both children and families is immense.
Repeated Threats Despite Earlier Incidents
This isn’t the first time Delhi schools have faced such threats. On Monday, Navy School (Chanakyapuri) and CRPF School (Dwarka Sector-16) received threats via email, prompting evacuations and heavy security checks. Similar incidents occurred a few months ago, but despite that, the recurrence of such threats indicates systemic lapses, AAP leaders say.
AAP Questions BJP’s Role and Accountability
The AAP has repeatedly accused the BJP and Delhi LG of neglecting law and order. Since Delhi Police reports directly to the Union Home Ministry, AAP leaders argue that the responsibility lies squarely with the BJP to protect Delhi’s citizens, especially its students.
The Delhi government has urged swift investigation and stricter security measures in and around schools, while questioning why there is no visible action being taken to prevent these threats from recurring.
