WhatsApp Chat Recovery: Get back deleted messages and photos in a jiffy

There are a few simple methods you can use to recover accidentally deleted chats on WhatsApp, depending on whether you have Chat Backup available.

Below are the easy steps to recover deleted chats:

Method 1: From a Google Drive or iCloud backup (easiest method)
If you backed up WhatsApp before the incident, you can easily restore it:

Uninstall WhatsApp from your phone.

Reinstall WhatsApp from Google Play Store or App Store.

Open WhatsApp and enter the same mobile number and verify it with OTP.

After verification, WhatsApp will ask you to restore the backup.

Tap on the Restore option.

Once the restore process is complete, press Next. Your deleted chats will be back.

Note: If a new backup was created after your chats were deleted, it may be difficult to recover old chats.

Method 2: From a local backup file on your Android phone

On Android phones, WhatsApp automatically saves a local backup to the phone's internal memory every night (around 2:00 AM).

Open your phone's File Manager.

Go to Internal Storage > Android > media > com.whatsapp > WhatsApp > Databases.

Here you will see the backup files (eg: msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt14).

Rename the file to msgstore.db.crypt14 (remove the old date) to the date you want to restore the data.

After this, uninstall WhatsApp and install it again and after verifying the OTP, tap on Restore.

Method 3: Use the 'Undo' button once the chat is deleted (Instant Delete)

If you accidentally "Delete for me" a message or chat, an Undo option will immediately appear at the bottom of the screen for 5 seconds. You can quickly restore the chat by tapping it.

Important points : To ensure that your data is never deleted, go to WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Chat Backup and set daily backup.

Recovery without a backup: If you don't have a Google Drive backup or a local backup, be wary of claims from third-party apps; it's impossible to recover deleted messages without a backup.
