Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is currently gearing up for the release of Welcome to the Jungle, while his horror-comedy Bhoot Bangla has also made its way to Netflix. During a recent promotional interaction for the film, an amusing behind-the-scenes story from one of Akshay's earlier projects resurfaced, leaving fans entertained.
The anecdote was shared by filmmaker Farah Khan, who directed Akshay Kumar in the 2010 comedy Tees Maar Khan. Recalling the film's shooting days, Farah revealed that Akshay used to travel to the set in a helicopter, treating it almost like a personal taxi service.
Farah Khan Reveals Akshay’s Unusual Commute
Speaking during a Netflix interview alongside Akshay Kumar, Rajpal Yadav, and director Priyadarshan, Farah looked back at the filming schedule of Tees Maar Khan.
She explained that the movie was being shot in Malshej, a location situated roughly two-and-a-half hours away from Mumbai. The crew had an early morning reporting time of 8 a.m., and most people stayed near the shooting location to avoid the long commute.
However, Akshay followed a different routine altogether.
Farah recalled that while the rest of the team remained in Malshej, Akshay would travel back to Mumbai every evening after shooting wrapped up. Surprisingly, he would still manage to reach the set before everyone else the next morning.
When Farah asked him how he managed to do it, Akshay had a simple answer: “By helicopter.”
‘I’ve Never Seen Anyone Use a Helicopter Like a Taxi’
Farah jokingly admitted that it was the first time she had seen an actor use a helicopter as casually as a taxi.
She praised Akshay for his punctuality, noting that despite the unusual travel arrangements, he was always on time. Akshay, known for his witty sense of humor, responded by saying that nobody should have had any complaints because he was one of the film’s producers.
Farah quickly replied that she was also a producer and teased him about spending her money on helicopter rides. Akshay laughed and countered that she ultimately earned plenty from the movie anyway.
How Did ‘Tees Maar Khan’ Perform at the Box Office?
Released on December 24, 2010, Tees Maar Khan generated significant buzz before its arrival in cinemas. The film opened strongly and collected around ₹13 crore on its first day, reflecting the popularity of its cast and promotional campaign.
However, despite the impressive start, the movie struggled to maintain momentum in the following weeks. Mixed reviews and audience reactions affected its long-term performance at the box office.
By the end of its theatrical run, Tees Maar Khan had earned approximately ₹60.91 crore in India. While the opening numbers were encouraging, the film fell short of becoming a major commercial success.
Star-Studded Cast
The comedy featured an ensemble cast led by Akshay Kumar, along with Akshaye Khanna and Katrina Kaif in prominent roles. The film also included performances by Ali Asgar, Arya Babbar, Raghu Ram, Rajiv Laxman, Aman Verma, and several other supporting actors.
Although Tees Maar Khan remains remembered for its songs, comedy sequences, and larger-than-life moments, Farah Khan’s latest revelation about Akshay Kumar’s helicopter commute has added yet another memorable chapter to the film’s legacy.
