In a shocking case from Rajasthan’s Rajsamand district, a woman’s affair with her childhood lover ended in the brutal murder of her husband. The victim, Sher Singh, was allegedly killed by his wife Pramod Kanwar and her lover Ram Singh, along with two accomplices. The group first tried to stage the murder as a road accident, but a deeper police investigation unraveled a gruesome conspiracy rooted in betrayal and deceit.
Murder on Pratappura Bridge
On June 24, Sher Singh was found dead on Pratappura bridge in the Kankroli police station area. Initially, his death was made to look like a road mishap. However, inconsistencies in the evidence prompted the police to launch a detailed investigation. The truth soon emerged — Sher Singh had been deliberately run over by a car and then attacked with a sharp weapon, leading to his throat and hand being severed.
Love Turned Deadly
According to the police, Sher Singh’s wife, Pramod Kanwar, had been in love with Ram Singh since childhood. However, in 2013, she was married to Sher Singh under family pressure. Despite the marriage, she remained in touch with Ram Singh and continued the affair. Their relationship led to two pregnancies, both of which ended in abortions reportedly forced by Sher Singh. These events triggered constant fights between the couple.
Failed Attempts and a Cold-Blooded Conspiracy
Sher Singh, tired of the disputes, moved with Pramod to Kerala to distance themselves from Ram Singh. But Ram Singh followed them there too. Eventually, the couple shifted back to Amet’s Khakharmala area. The murder plot was allegedly attempted twice but failed. Finally, on June 24, Ram Singh and his aides executed the plan with brutal precision.
Pramod allegedly gave Ram Singh Rs 38,000 a day before the murder and promised Rs 1 lakh each to the two accomplices. On the day of the crime, she asked her husband for Rs 200 under the pretext of needing petrol and used the online transaction to trace his location. She shared this with Ram Singh, who tracked Sher Singh’s route and ambushed him at the isolated Pratappura bridge.
Community Outrage and Swift Police Action
The murder sparked public outrage. The Rajput community, to which Sher Singh belonged, refused to claim the body until arrests were made. Protests broke out at the hospital, pressuring authorities to act swiftly. A special investigation team was formed, and within 48 hours, the accomplices were nabbed using technical surveillance. Ram Singh was caught in Madhya Pradesh. Under interrogation, Sher Singh’s wife, Pramod, confessed to her role in the murder.
Legal Action Underway
Ram Singh is currently under a 3-day police remand to help recover the murder weapon and other evidence. The other three accused, including Pramod Kanwar, have been sent to judicial custody. The case has shaken the region, underlining the tragic consequences of betrayal, secrecy, and misplaced trust.
