Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have pointed fingers at the pitch after their disappointing loss to Punjab Kings in their first home match of IPL 2025. Bowling coach Zaheer Khan expressed his frustration, suggesting that the pitch seemed to favor the visiting team rather than offering any home advantage.
Punjab Dominates in Lucknow
LSG, batting first on April 1, posted 171/7 in their 20 overs. However, Punjab Kings chased down the target with ease, winning by 8 wickets in just 16.2 overs. This unexpected loss on their home ground led to LSG questioning the pitch conditions.
Zaheer Khan Questions Pitch Preparation
In the post-match press conference, Zaheer Khan criticized the pitch curator, stating that the surface did not seem to favor the home team. "It looked as if the pitch was prepared by Punjab's curator, not Lucknow's," he remarked, emphasizing the lack of home advantage.
Similar Complaints from KKR and CSK
Zaheer's comments echo the complaints made by KKR and CSK after their home losses in IPL 2025. KKR lost to RCB at Eden Gardens, and CSK suffered a defeat against RCB at Chepauk. Both teams also blamed their respective pitch curators for not creating favorable conditions.
Punjab Kings and RCB Remain Unbeaten
While LSG and other teams have pointed fingers at pitch conditions, the fact remains that Punjab Kings and RCB remain unbeaten so far in IPL 2025. Their strong performances suggest that skill and execution, rather than pitch conditions alone, have been the deciding factors.
