100 Best Cuisines in the World: Italian food takes the top spot, India ranks 13, and where is Pakistan?

Taste Atlas, a popular global food and travel platform, regularly releases rankings based on authentic dishes and culinary heritage. Their latest list of the 100 Best Cuisines in the World is out, and India has secured a strong position in the top 20. Pakistan, however, is nowhere close.

Top 5 cuisines in the world

According to the Taste Atlas rankings, the world’s best cuisines are:

  1. Italy – Rating 4.64

  2. Greece – Rating 4.60

  3. Peru – Rating 4.54

  4. Portugal – Rating 4.53

  5. Spain – Rating 4.53

Spain and Portugal have received the same rating, making the competition even tighter.

India ranks in the top 20

India has proudly secured the 13th spot on the list, with a rating of 4.43. This is a significant global recognition of India’s diverse culinary heritage. Earlier, Taste Atlas had also rated India’s butter chicken among the top 20 chicken dishes in the world, giving it a strong 4.5-star rating. Tandoori chicken also remains one of India’s most loved dishes internationally.

Pakistan fails to reach even the top 50

Pakistan is included in the list but ranks much lower at number 73, with a rating of just 4.04. This puts it far behind India in the global culinary ranking.

Indian dishes also shine in the world’s top foods list

Taste Atlas also released its World’s 100 Best Dishes for 2025 and 2026. Amritsari Kulcha from Punjab has secured a place in the top 20 at rank 17, with a rating of 4.44. Hyderabadi Biryani has also made it to the list, proving once again how deeply Indian flavors resonate across the world.
