The Amarnath Yatra 2026 will begin on July 3 and continue until August 9. Every year, millions of devotees make this sacred journey to the Amarnath Cave, where the naturally formed ice Shivalinga is worshipped.

Registration for the Yatra will begin on April 15. Pilgrims are advised to check all the rules, eligibility criteria and procedures before planning their journey.

Amarnath Yatra 2026: Check Registration Process

Registration will begin on April 15, and pilgrims should apply early as there are limited slots available daily.

Pilgrims can register online through the official website of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) or mobile application.

This process involves the following steps:

Visit the official website of SASB.

Click on the 'Register' option and read all the instructions carefully.

Accept the terms by clicking 'I Agree'.

Fill in the required details and upload the documents.

Verify your mobile number using the OTP. Receive a payment link within two hours and complete the payment.
Download your travel permit after successful registration.

2026 Amarnath Yatra: Check Eligibility Criteria

Authorities have set guidelines to ensure safety during the journey:

Age must be between 13 and 70 years.
Women who are more than six weeks pregnant are not permitted.
A compulsory health certificate (CHC) from an authorized doctor is required.

Bookings will close seven days prior to the travel date. Group registrations for 5 to 30 people are permitted. Each permit will include the route and date of travel. Help desks will also be available at designated bank branches.

Offline Registration for Amarnath Yatra
Pilgrims can also register offline at over 500 authorized bank branches across India. Registrations will be done on a first-come, first-served basis.

Aadhaar-based biometric eKYC will be performed. In case of technical difficulties, manual registration may be permitted.

Pilgrims will have to submit the following documents:

Valid Medical Certificate (CHC) issued by an authorized doctor.

Amarnath Yatra 2026: Important things to remember

After registration, pilgrims must obtain an RFID card from designated centers in Jammu and Kashmir. Biometric verification is required. Entry will be denied at checkpoints like Domel and Chandanwari without the card.

Pilgrims can choose from two main routes:

Pahalgam Route: Approximately 46 km (one way). It is longer but easier and suitable for first-time pilgrims.
Baltal Route: Approximately 14 km (one way). It is shorter but steeper and more difficult.
Helicopter services are available on both routes to Panchtarni.
