Crime News Bokaro: On Tuesday, 4 notorious dacoits have been arrested while exposing an inter-state dacoit gang. The SP said that on the late night of January 31, about 6-7 people entered the house of Shankar Mahato, a resident of Maango in Balidih OP area, with pistols/knives. They took all the members hostage by showing the fear of weapons and fled with jewelry worth about 5-6 lakhs, 40 thousand cash and DVR of CCTV camera.
The police of Balidih police station of Bokaro district is continuously solving big criminal cases. On Tuesday, 4 notorious dacoits were arrested while exposing an inter-state dacoit gang. Raids are being conducted in search of other dacoits involved in this network under the leadership of team leader Inspector Naveen Kumar Singh. This information was given to journalists by Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh in Camp 2 office on Tuesday.
All the members were taken hostage by threatening them with weapons
SP said that on the late night of 31st January, about 6-7 people entered the house of Shankar Mahato, a resident of Mango in Balidih OP area, with pistols/knives. FIR was lodged in Balidih police station on February 1
An FIR regarding the incident was lodged in Balidih police station on 1 February 2025 under case number 39/25 against 6-7 unknown criminals. A special team was formed under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Animesh Gupta to investigate the case and recover the goods.
All the culprits confessed their crime
The team solved the case with the help of human intelligence and technical investigation. 4 criminals were also arrested. All of them have accepted their crime. On their information, the looted jewellery, burnt part of the DVR and the loaded country-made pistol used in the incident, motorcycle etc. have been seized.
Asgar Ansari is the leader of the robbery gang
SP said that the mastermind of this incident is inter-state dacoit Asgar Ansari. He was released from Purulia jail (West Bengal) in December 2024 for dacoity. Asgar Ansari is an inter-state habitual criminal. 15 criminal cases are registered against him in various states. Before this incident, on 3 January 2025, he had also committed dacoity in Birni police station area of Giridih district.
In February, a gang had committed theft in Dumri
This gang had committed a theft in February 2025 under Dumri police station. An interstate gang that used to commit robbery after doing recce of houses has been exposed. They have been active in Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand for the last 15 years. Several criminal cases are registered against them. These criminals used to take away the DVR of CCTV after the incident and burn it so that they could escape from the clutches of the police.

- Asgar Ansari (40) is a resident of Katras Basti Teliabandh under Katras police station in Dhanbad district. He has 15 criminal cases registered against him in Giridih, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, West Bengal and Bokaro.
- Jamaluddin Ansari (45) is a resident of Gomo Basti, Dakshinbar Hariharpur under Gomo police station of Dhanbad district. He has 3 criminal cases registered against him in Giridih and Bokaro.
- Salman Ansari is a resident of Gohibandh under Katras police station of Dhanbad district. 5 criminal cases are registered against him in Bokaro, Giridih and Dhanbad districts.
- Raju Sonar is a resident of Hariharpur in Dhanbad district. The police is investigating his criminal history.
