Bastar Olympics Gets ‘Khelo India Tribal Games’ Tag; Medical, Nursing Colleges Proposed in Raipur and Bilaspur

In a major boost to tribal sports and health education, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi, securing key approvals and commitments for the state’s development.

Bastar Olympics to Become Khelo India Tribal Games

During the meeting, it was agreed that Bastar Olympics will now be recognized as 'Khelo India Tribal Games', starting this year. The move is expected to:

  • Bring national recognition to tribal youth talent

  • Promote Chhattisgarh’s traditional sports on a wider platform

  • Strengthen the region’s identity in the national sports ecosystem

Chief Minister Sai called the decision a “historic step” for tribal empowerment through sports.

New Medical-Nursing Colleges in the Pipeline

The Chief Minister also proposed the establishment of 220-bed medical and nursing colleges in Raipur and Bilaspur, aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare education and services in the state. Union Minister Mandaviya responded positively, stating that the Centre will initiate the necessary approvals soon.

Physical Education and Sports Infrastructure Boost

CM Sai further requested a regional centre of the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) in Chhattisgarh, along with new stadiums and training centres to uplift local sports infrastructure. The Union Minister assured early approvals for these proposals.
