A supposed birthday celebration turned into a full-blown rave party in Bengaluru’s Devanahalli area, exposing an underground drug-fueled gathering early Monday morning. Acting on a tip-off from locals disturbed by loud noises, police raided a farmhouse and found 31 young men and women, allegedly in intoxicated and compromising conditions.
Inside the Raid: Cocaine, Hashish, Hydro-Ganja Found
The incident occurred around 5 am in the Bengaluru Rural district. Upon entering the premises, police were stunned to find a full-fledged rave underway. Seven women and 24 men, all between 24 to 30 years old, were detained on the spot. Officers seized various narcotics including cocaine, hydroponic marijuana (hydro-ganja), hashish, and regular cannabis.
IT Professionals and a Drug Peddler Among the Detained
Authorities confirmed that most of those arrested are working professionals from the IT sector, and at least one individual was identified as a drug peddler. Medical tests confirmed the presence of drugs in several attendees. While four were remanded to judicial custody, the remaining were released on bail after being warned and signing personal bonds.
Farmhouse Rented for ‘Birthday’—Now Under Investigation
Initial investigations revealed that the venue was rented for a birthday celebration, which was used as a cover for the party. Police have registered cases under the NDPS Act against the farmhouse owner and other individuals involved. The drug supply chain linked to the party is now under scrutiny, and officials are also tracking communications between the accused and the venue owner.
Police Warn of Crackdown on Urban Drug Parties
DCP (East Division) VJ Sajith confirmed that a deeper probe is underway. He emphasized that Bengaluru police will not tolerate such illegal gatherings, especially those disguised as private celebrations.
