Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) fans have exciting news to look forward to. Krafton India has officially announced the launch date of BGMI Air, a lightweight version of its popular battle royale game. The new title will be released in India on December 10, 2026, and is designed especially for users who have limited phone storage or smartphones with modest hardware.
The company is also offering selected players an opportunity to experience the game before its official launch through a closed beta testing programme.
BGMI Air Will Require Around 1GB of Storage
Krafton India has developed BGMI Air as a lighter alternative to the original BGMI. The main objective is to make battle royale gaming accessible to players who cannot install or comfortably run resource-intensive games on their smartphones.
The initial download size of BGMI Air is expected to be approximately 1GB, making it a more convenient option for devices with limited storage capacity. The announcement has already generated considerable interest, with more than 14 million users reportedly pre-registered for the game on Google Play.
Closed Beta Testing to Begin on November 20
Before the official release, Krafton will organise a closed beta testing programme from November 20 to November 24, 2026.
The testing phase will be conducted in three cities: Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. Selected gamers will get early access to BGMI Air and will be able to share their feedback with the developers. Krafton will use these suggestions to identify issues and make necessary improvements before the nationwide launch.
How to Apply for BGMI Air Beta Testing
Players interested in trying BGMI Air before its official release will have to complete an audition process.
Applicants must first create a short video of 15 to 60 seconds explaining why they deserve to be selected as early testers. They must also tag BGMI's official social media accounts while uploading the video.
After posting the video, applicants need to fill out the application form available through the bio section of the official BGMI Air and BGMI Instagram account, @battlegroundsmobilein_official.
However, applicants must meet certain eligibility requirements:
-
They must be at least 18 years old.
-
They must possess a valid government-issued photo ID.
-
They must have an active BGMI account.
Submitting an application does not guarantee selection, as only a limited number of players will be chosen for the beta testing programme.
Existing BGMI Accounts Will Remain Unaffected
Players concerned about their existing BGMI accounts do not need to worry. BGMI Air will be released as a separate application rather than an update to the original game.
Both games will operate independently on the same smartphone, and players will not be required to transfer their existing BGMI accounts to BGMI Air.
With a smaller download size, early testing opportunities and a separate app, BGMI Air is expected to attract players who want a battle royale experience without putting too much pressure on their phone's storage.
