Bhoothnath’s ‘Banku’ Has Changed Completely After 17 Years — Amitabh Bachchan’s Little Friend ‘Chhutku’ Looks Like This Now

Child artists often leave a lasting impression with just a few scenes, and one such unforgettable character was Banku from Bhoothnath. Released in 2008, the film won hearts with its blend of comedy, emotion, and fantasy—largely due to the adorable bond between Bhoothnath and Banku.

The story followed Bhoothnath, played by Amitabh Bachchan, who forms a close friendship with Aman “Banku,” the young son of Aditya and Anjali, portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla. While the star cast added gravitas, it was Banku—played by Aman Siddiqui—who stole the show and became the emotional core of the film.

Started acting at just 3

Before Bhoothnath, Aman Siddiqui had already appeared in several TV commercials, including popular ads for brands like Horlicks, starting at the age of three. He even shared screen space with top cricketers and Bollywood stars, gaining early recognition through advertisements.

How Aman got Bhoothnath

Interestingly, Aman was offered Bhoothnath after appearing in a TV commercial with Amitabh Bachchan, directed by Vivek Sharma, who later directed the film as well. Vivek saw potential in Aman and offered him the role—but Aman initially refused. A bright student, he preferred ads that wrapped up in a day or two and turned down full-fledged films to focus on studies. Because of this, he reportedly declined movies like Fanaa and Ta Ra Rum Pum.

After much persuasion, Aman finally agreed to do Bhoothnath—and the rest is history.

Stepped away from acting early

Despite the massive popularity he gained as Banku, Aman chose academics over acting. He was last seen in a Cello advertisement while studying in the 8th grade. After that, he completely shifted focus to education and stayed away from the limelight.

‘People only saw me as Banku’

In later interviews, Aman admitted that the fame was bittersweet. He said people often saw him only as Banku and formed opinions without knowing him as a person. However, during his college years, he realised that people supported and respected him more than he expected.

Where is Aman Siddiqui now?

Aman later shared that although he once wanted to pursue acting, subjects like Sociology and Anthropology changed his outlook. Over time, he realised that acting was no longer his true calling.
