The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially announced the schedule for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated political battles of the year. The polls will be conducted in two phases, with voting on November 6 and November 11, while results will be declared on November 14.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, while addressing a press conference at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan, assured that the elections would be conducted peacefully, fairly, and transparently. He emphasized a “zero tolerance policy” toward any form of electoral violence or malpractice.

Voter-Friendly Reforms and Digital Upgrades

Gyanesh Kumar said the ECI has worked extensively to ensure that the upcoming elections are smooth and voter-friendly. The voter list has been thoroughly updated, and political parties have received the final rolls.

He added that any discrepancies can still be corrected, and voters who have been left out can get their names added up to 10 days before the nomination deadline. The Commission also confirmed that Bihar will be the first state to implement the new “Net-One” Single Window App, which integrates all election-related services for both officials and voters.

7.43 Crore Voters to Decide Bihar’s Future

According to the Chief Election Commissioner, 7.43 crore voters will participate in the 2025 Bihar elections. The demographic breakdown includes 3.92 crore male voters, 3.50 crore female voters, and 1,725 transgender voters.

Interestingly, the state has over 4.04 lakh senior citizens aged above 85, and more than 14,000 centenarian voters — individuals aged over 100 years — who will be eligible to cast their votes.

90,712 Polling Booths Across Bihar

To manage the vast electorate efficiently, the ECI has increased the number of polling stations to 90,712, ensuring that no booth will have more than 1,200 voters.

Of these, 13,911 polling stations are in urban areas, while 76,801 booths are located in rural regions. Every polling booth will feature webcasting facilities for live monitoring and transparency.

Tight Security and Monitoring Across the State

Given Bihar’s history of sporadic election-related violence, security will be a major focus this year. Over 300 companies of central paramilitary forces are expected to be deployed across the state.

Districts that witnessed disturbances during the 2020 Assembly Elections will receive special surveillance. The Election Commission has directed district magistrates, SPs, and all law enforcement agencies to maintain absolute neutrality and ensure that no misuse of administrative machinery occurs during the polls.

Campaigns to Encourage Youth and Women Voters

To boost participation, the ECI has launched the “Mera Pehla Vote – Mere Bihar Ke Naam” campaign. The initiative aims to inspire first-time voters and women voters through awareness programs in colleges and universities.

The Commission’s goal is to achieve a record-high voter turnout this election season, ensuring that every eligible citizen exercises their democratic right.

Political Momentum Picks Up Ahead of Polls

Following the announcement, political activity in Bihar has reached its peak. Major parties like the RJD, BJP, JDU, and Congress have intensified their campaigns and are finalizing candidate lists.

Both the NDA and Mahagathbandhan alliances have been holding marathon meetings to finalize strategies for key constituencies.

With the election schedule now in place, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has come into immediate effect. This means the state government and political leaders are barred from announcing any new schemes or making policy declarations until the elections conclude.

The Bottom Line

The countdown to Bihar’s two-phase Assembly Elections 2025 has officially begun. With enhanced security, digital monitoring, and voter-friendly reforms, the Election Commission aims to make the process transparent, inclusive, and violence-free.

As the political temperature rises, all eyes will be on November 14, when the results will decide who leads Bihar for the next five years.
