In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Moti Ram Jat, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan, for allegedly leaking sensitive national security information to Pakistani intelligence operatives. He was arrested in Delhi and produced before a special court at Patiala House, which has sent him to NIA custody till June 6.
Spying Since 2023, Paid by Pakistan
According to NIA sources, Moti Ram had been engaged in espionage activities since 2023. He allegedly passed on classified information to multiple officials linked to Pakistani intelligence. The agency revealed that he was receiving payments via hawala channels in exchange for this sensitive data.
Investigators believe Moti Ram was targeted and recruited by the ISI and had become a crucial link in their covert intelligence operations against India.
Further Interrogation May Reveal More Names
Officials suspect that more individuals may be connected to this espionage network. The NIA is expanding its probe and is monitoring all individuals who had direct or indirect contact with the accused. His phone records, communication logs, and digital trail are being closely examined.
Family Bank Accounts Under Scrutiny
Authorities are also investigating bank accounts linked to Moti Ram and his family members, suspecting that foreign payments may have been routed through their accounts to avoid detection. These financial transactions are a key part of the agency’s efforts to unravel the full extent of the espionage operation.
Significant Step in National Security Enforcement
This arrest is being seen as a serious breach of national security and a critical step by the NIA in thwarting enemy efforts to infiltrate Indian defense forces. The investigation is ongoing, and further revelations are expected in the coming days.
