An important announcement is coming for central government employees and pensioners. A dearness allowance increase for government employees is expected. An announcement regarding the increase is expected within the next week or two. Meanwhile, no official information has been released regarding this matter.
Dearness allowance will increase soon
The dearness allowance for government employees is increased twice a year. First in January and then in June, the dearness allowance increases occur in two phases. Meanwhile, the dearness allowance for January 2026 has not yet been announced. Therefore, it is expected to be announced in the next few days. Following the announcement, employees will also receive arrears for those months. Therefore, good news for government employees could arrive at any time.
According to media reports, the government may announce a 3% increase in dearness allowance this time. Currently, dearness allowance is 58%. A 3% increase will bring the dearness allowance to 61%. Previously, in October last year, the dearness allowance was raised from 55% to 58%. How much will the salary increase be? Dearness allowance depends on an employee's basic salary. If your basic salary is ₹56,100, you receive ₹32,538 based on the current dearness allowance. If this allowance is increased to 61%, it will become ₹34,221, representing an increase of ₹1,683. Additionally, arrears for the three months of January, February, and March will be added. Therefore, employees may receive an additional ₹6,732 next month. Additionally, transport allowances will also increase, and gratuity will also increase.
