Due to dense fog in the Knowledge Park Kotwali area, the car of 27-year-old software engineer Yuvraj Mehta hit a drainage boundary and fell into the water filled in an under-construction basement, resulting in his painful death. This incident has angered the people of the area. The incident took place near Sector 150 on Friday night, when tech engineer Yuvraj Mehta was returning home by car from his office in Gurugram.
The story of the rescue efforts, as told by an eyewitness
Munendra Kumar, a delivery boy for an online company, witnessed the incident. Around 1 p.m., he had gone to deliver an order to a nearby community. On his way back, he stopped when he saw the crowd.
They say that Yuvraj stood on the car and constantly pleaded for help, but the officers present there did not get out due to fear of the cold water, the iron rods, and the deep water. They showed courage and, tying a rope around their waist, entered the water for about thirty minutes, trying to save Yuvraj, but were unsuccessful.
Residents expressed their displeasure by raising slogans
Following the incident, authorities dumped a pile of soil and debris before the basement on Saturday. Residents gathered at the scene and shouted slogans in the evening, expressing their anger. Police managed to calm them down and send them home.
Meanwhile, after the post-mortem, the police handed over the body to the family. The last rites were performed in Safipur. The father, close family members, and the young man's friends attended. Friends said Yuvraj had been working at a company in Gurugram for about a year and a half.
