ED Raids Actor Dino Morea’s Residence Amid ‘Housefull 5’ Release, Linked to Mithi River Scam

Bollywood actor Dino Morea is under the spotlight as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids his Bandra residence on Friday morning, June 6, in connection with the ongoing Mithi River silt removal scam investigation. This money laundering probe, conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), involves raids at 15 locations across Mumbai and Kochi.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police had earlier summoned and questioned Morea twice regarding alleged financial irregularities in the Rs 65 crore scam linked to a Rs 1,100 crore contract for clearing silt from Mumbai’s Mithi River, a project ongoing for two decades.

Reports suggest the involvement of 18 contractors in the project, with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) accusing irregularities in equipment hiring, resulting in a loss of over Rs 65 crore.

Political angles have also surfaced, with Dino Morea’s close ties to Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) youth leader and MLA Aditya Thackeray sparking speculation that the case might be used to create difficulties for the faction ahead of municipal elections.

The ED is currently gathering documents and evidence from the actor’s premises as the investigation intensifies.
