Fake Bride, Bogus Relatives, and a Cheated Groom: Rajasthan Police Busts Marriage Scam in Haryana

In a dramatic twist during a wedding ceremony in Dabwali town of Haryana’s Sirsa district, Rajasthan Police on Sunday busted an elaborate marriage scam involving a fake bride, her bogus relatives, and a wanted middleman. The shocking revelation left the groom and guests in utter disbelief, turning the celebration into chaos.

According to officials, Rajasthan Police arrived unannounced at the wedding venue where the ceremony was underway. As the groom from Punjab sat on the stage, and guests danced and dined, the sudden police presence created panic. Officers immediately identified and detained the middleman, Resham Singh, who had allegedly arranged the match.

Parents Couldn’t Even Name the Bride

Upon further questioning, it was discovered that the people posing as the bride’s parents and relatives were impostors. Shockingly, the so-called parents could not even name the bride, and neither could other attendees from the bride’s side identify each other. This led the police to believe the entire setup was a well-orchestrated fraud.

Groom Returns with Bridal Gifts

As the investigation unfolded, the bride, her fake family members, and Resham Singh were taken into custody. The stunned groom, who had arrived from Punjab with his baraat, returned home with the lehenga and gifts brought for the bride.

Accused Was Wanted in Rajasthan

Rajasthan Police revealed that Resham Singh, a resident of Bathinda, Punjab, currently residing in Dabwali’s Sundar Nagar on rent, was a wanted accused in a cheating case registered on March 27, 2024, at Kolayat Police Station in Bikaner district. He had been absconding for nearly a year.

Following the incident, Haryana Police and local Nagar Thana officials also arrived on the scene after being informed by the Rajasthan team. While Rajasthan Police took only Resham Singh with them, Haryana Police detained the fake bride and her accomplices for further investigation.

The bizarre turn of events shocked all attendees, leaving many questioning how such a deception was carried out so convincingly.
