What Is the FASTag Annual Pass?

The FASTag Annual Pass is linked to the existing FASTag installed on an eligible vehicle.

Instead of paying the applicable toll amount separately every time you cross an eligible fee plaza, you can purchase the annual pass by making a one-time payment.

For FY 2026-27, the government has fixed the annual pass fee at ₹3,075.

How Many Toll Crossings Do You Get?

The FASTag Annual Pass remains valid for:

One year from activation OR 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever happens earlier.

This means that if you complete 200 eligible crossings before one year is over, the annual-pass benefit will end at that point.

Similarly, if you don't use all 200 crossings within one year, the remaining crossings will not extend beyond the validity period.

Which Vehicles Are Eligible?

The annual pass is meant for eligible non-commercial private vehicles, including cars, jeeps and vans with a valid FASTag.

Commercial vehicles are not covered under the same annual-pass facility.

Vehicle owners should also make sure that their FASTag is active and properly linked to the vehicle before trying to activate the pass.

Where Can the Annual Pass Be Used?

The annual pass is applicable at around 1,150 eligible fee plazas on National Highways and National Expressways.

However, this doesn't mean the pass automatically covers every toll road or toll plaza in India.

Before purchasing it, frequent travellers should check whether the toll plazas they regularly use are covered under the annual-pass system.

How to Activate the FASTag Annual Pass

Vehicle owners don't need to purchase another FASTag specifically for the annual pass.

The pass can be activated on the vehicle's existing eligible FASTag after making the prescribed payment.

The facility is available through the Rajmargyatra app and NHAI's official platform.

According to NHAI, once the required payment and verification are completed, the annual pass can generally be activated on the existing FASTag within around two hours.

Is the ₹3,075 Annual Pass Worth Buying?

Whether the pass saves money depends largely on how frequently you use eligible National Highways.

Suppose you eventually use all 200 eligible crossings. At ₹3,075 for the annual pass, the effective cost works out to roughly ₹15.38 per crossing.

For someone who regularly crosses high-value toll plazas, the potential savings could therefore be significant.

However, occasional highway users should calculate their normal annual toll spending before buying the pass.

Don't Confuse Annual Pass With FASTag Balance

The annual pass doesn't mean that your FASTag becomes universally toll-free.

It applies only according to the annual-pass rules and at eligible toll plazas. If you travel through a toll facility that isn't covered, normal charges may still apply through your FASTag.

Keeping sufficient FASTag balance can therefore still be important for journeys involving other toll locations.

Beware of Fake FASTag Annual Pass Messages

Drivers should be cautious about WhatsApp messages, SMS links or calls claiming to offer discounted or lifetime FASTag passes.

Don't share your OTP, UPI PIN, debit-card PIN or banking password with anyone claiming to activate the annual pass.

Use only authorised government channels to check eligibility and make the required payment.
