Father Shoots and Kills Son in Kanpur Dehat After Early-Morning Family Dispute

A shocking incident unfolded early Friday morning in Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh, where a father shot his son dead using a licensed gun. The accused has been arrested, and the weapon has been seized by police.
The incident occurred in Jignis village under the Derapur police station area. The victim, Ayush Dixit, 25, was the son of local farmer Durga Prasad Dixit. According to reports, the family had been experiencing ongoing disputes over property and personal issues. Around 5 a.m., a heated argument broke out between Ayush and his father. In a fit of rage, Durga Prasad fired a shot at his son’s chest, killing him instantly. The incident sent shockwaves through the family and the entire village.
The victim’s mother, Asha Dixit, filed a complaint stating that her son had been undergoing psychiatric treatment in Kanpur for a long-standing mental health condition and that tension had been brewing within the family.
According to her statement, on November 14, 2025, at around 5 a.m., an argument erupted during which she and her son were verbally abused and assaulted by Durga Prasad. As Ayush attempted to stop the fight, the accused suddenly pulled out the licensed gun kept at home and shot him. Ayush died on the spot.
Following the shooting, Durga Prasad fled the scene while Asha raised an alarm, prompting neighbors to rush to the house. Panic spread across the village as news of the murder spread.
Demand for strict action
Soon after receiving the information, Derapur police arrived, secured the crime scene, and sent the body for post-mortem examination. A forensic team examined the area and the weapon to establish the exact circumstances of the crime. Asha Dixit has demanded strict legal action against her husband. Police later confirmed that the accused had been arrested and that the investigation is being carried out with full seriousness.
