Full version of Aadhaar app launched, features ranging from offline verification to mobile number update

The new Aadhaar app is a major update to make Aadhaar-related transactions more secure, digital, and user-friendly. Features like offline verification, limited data sharing, and digital updates make Aadhaar more practical for everyday use.

UIDAI has taken a major step towards making Aadhaar-related tasks easier and more secure. Following its announcement in November 2025, the new and completely revamped Aadhaar app is now officially available for download. The app has been released on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. The new app aims to provide users with easy, secure, and controlled access to Aadhaar-related services through their smartphones.

Why is the new Aadhaar app special?

According to UIDAI, the new Aadhaar app aims to strengthen digital identity and reduce reliance on physical Aadhaar cards. Often, photocopies of Aadhaar cards are required to be shared for purposes such as hotel check-in, SIM card purchases, and office verification, which poses a risk of data misuse. The new app focuses on mitigating this risk and facilitates secure digital verification.

Offline Aadhaar verification facility

The new Aadhaar app's most significant feature is that it allows identity verification without an internet connection. This process requires neither sharing your Aadhaar number nor providing biometric data. This makes routine verification more secure and reliable.

Share Aadhaar details as needed

Users will no longer need to share their entire Aadhaar card. Only essential information, such as name or age, can be shared through the app. This reduces unnecessary exposure of personal data and better protects privacy.

Updating mobile number made easy

The new app allows you to digitally change your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. This eliminates the need to visit an enrollment center. According to UIDAI, this feature is available with authentication and a nominal fee.

Address will be updated from the app itself

Now, there's no need to go through a lengthy process to update your address in Aadhaar. Address update requests can be submitted digitally through Aadhaar-based authentication in the app. This saves both time and effort.

Multiple profile support for families

The new Aadhaar app allows you to manage up to five Aadhaar profiles on a single device. This feature is especially useful for families. The app also provides a secure Aadhaar contact card, which allows for limited information sharing.
