Ghee-roasted dry fruits are a boon in winter; they boost immunity and keep the body warm

In today's fast-paced lives, we often neglect our diet. Sometimes due to work pressure or lack of time, we are drawn to unhealthy snacks and junk food. But did you know that there's a "superfood" right in your kitchen that can not only give you instant energy but also boost your immunity? We're talking about dry fruits roasted in desi ghee.

In Ayurveda, both ghee and dried fruits are considered very important for health. When combined, their benefits are multiplied. Let's explore in detail why dry fruits roasted in ghee are essential for your body.

1. Provides instant energy

If you feel tired throughout the day or your energy starts to wane mid-work, a handful of ghee-roasted nuts can be a panacea. They are rich in healthy fats, protein, and fiber, which keep you energized for longer.

2. Immunity is strong

With changing weather, problems like colds, coughs, and flu become common. Ghee contains antioxidants, and when roasted with nuts like almonds, walnuts, and cashews, it boosts the body's ability to fight disease. This is especially beneficial for children and the elderly.

3. Helpful in digestion

People often think ghee is heavy, but consuming desi ghee in moderation helps maintain a smooth digestive system. Dry fruits roasted in ghee are rich in fiber, which helps keep the stomach clean and relieves problems like constipation.

4. For bone strength

With advancing age, bone pain or weakness can become a problem. Almonds and cashews contain calcium and magnesium, while ghee helps maintain joint lubrication. Regular consumption of these nuts can help strengthen bones and relieve joint pain.

5. Brain development and memory

Walnuts and almonds are known as "brain food." The omega-3 fatty acids in ghee and the nutrients in nuts sharpen the brain and improve concentration. This makes it a great snack for students.

How to make Ghee Roasted Dry Fruits (Easy Recipe)

It is very easy to make and you can make it once and store it for a month.

Material:

  • Mixed dry fruits of your choice (almonds, cashews, walnuts, pistachios, makhana)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons pure desi ghee
  • A pinch of black salt or rock salt (according to taste)
  • A pinch of black pepper powder (optional)

Method of preparation:

  • First of all, take a heavy bottom pan and heat it on low flame.
  • Add desi ghee in the pan and let it melt.
  • Add the almonds and walnuts first, as they take a little longer to roast. Stir them over low heat for 2 minutes.
  • Then add the cashews and pistachios. When the nuts turn light golden and start to smell good, turn off the heat.
  • If you are roasting makhanas, then roast them separately in ghee till they turn crisp.
  • Finally, sprinkle black salt and black pepper powder over the top. Mix well and let it cool.
  • After they cool down, store them in an airtight glass jar.

A word of caution

Although ghee-roasted dried fruits are very healthy, they should be consumed in moderation. A small handful of roasted nuts a day is sufficient for a healthy individual. If you have cholesterol or weight problems, include them in your diet only after consulting your doctor.
