Has your employer actually deposited the PF amount deducted from your salary? Check it in 5 minutes with this simple method

Provident Fund (PF) is a major source of savings for every employed person. However, many employees don't know how to check their PF balance. If you're unsure about PF deductions, worry no more. From a missed call to the Umang app on your mobile, we're going to tell you four easy ways to check your PF account status in a jiffy.

PF is every employed person's biggest financial support after retirement. According to regulations, the employer is required to deduct a fixed amount from the employee's salary and deposit it into the EPFO by the 15th of every month. However, sometimes the employer or company fails to deposit this amount on time, resulting in the employee losing interest. To avoid this, you can check it regularly using the methods below.

Check your passbook online from the EPFO portal

The most reliable way to check whether your employer has deposited the money is to visit the EPFO's official passbook portal.
Log in by entering your UAN (Universal Account Number) and password.
Once logged in, select your current company ID from 'Select Member ID'.
Click 'View Passbook'. Here you will see the monthly date and the amount deposited. If the previous month's entry is missing, it means the employer hasn't deposited the money.

Use the UMANG app

This app is very easy for mobile users.
Open the UMANG app on your phone, search for 'EPFO', and click on it.
Go to 'Employee-Centric Services' and select the 'View Passbook' option.
Enter your UAN and verify the OTP.
Here, you will clearly see your employer's and your employee's share of your PF.

Get information with just a missed call

You can still get information even if you don't have internet access. Give a missed call to 9966044425 from your registered mobile number.
The call will automatically disconnect, and you'll receive an SMS within a few seconds.
This SMS will provide detailed information about the last time a contribution was credited to your account.

Check status by sending SMS

Type EPFOHO UAN MAR from your mobile and send this message to 7738299899 ('MAR' stands for Marathi language).
You will receive a return message with your PF balance and the date the employer last paid the amount.
