Hyundai Creta Retains Lead in Booming Mid-Size SUV Segment

The mid-size SUV segment in India continues to witness strong demand, with models ranging from 4.3 meters to 4.7 meters in length. Among these, the Hyundai Creta has once again emerged as the segment leader, underscoring its enduring popularity among buyers.

In February 2026, the Creta recorded sales of 17,938 units, marking a 10% increase over 16,317 units sold in the same month last year. Following closely was the Mahindra Scorpio, which sold 14,665 units, an 8% rise year-over-year, reflecting continued customer interest in its robust design and performance.

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris made a strong debut at third place with 13,021 units sold, while the Kia Seltos and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder recorded 10,308 and 9,359 units, respectively. Notably, the Hyryder posted an impressive 117% annual sales growth, indicating growing demand for hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicles.

Other notable performers include the Mahindra XUV 7XO with 9,112 units, Tata Sierra at 7,100 units, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, which saw a decline of 45% with 5,859 units sold. The Tata Harrier and Tata Safari recorded 3,096 and 1,650 units, respectively, reflecting moderate growth in their segments.

The mid-size SUV market remains competitive, with buyers showing strong preference for a blend of style, performance, and fuel efficiency.
