Former BJP MP Maneka Gandhi has called the Supreme Court's order to catch stray dogs 'impractical'. She said that it will cost a lot and it is also not good for the 'ecological balance' of the area. According to Maneka Gandhi, it is 'almost impossible' to implement this order on the ground.

According to India Today's report, Maneka Gandhi said that there are about 3 lakh stray dogs in Delhi. To remove them, at least 3 thousand shelters (pounds) will have to be built. Water, drainage, kitchen, roof, and watchman will have to be arranged in them. The cost of all this will be around 15 thousand crores rupees. Maneka asked, 'Does Delhi have that much money?'

It will take another Rs 5 crore per week to feed the dogs at the shelter, which could anger the public.

What losses will have to be incurred after removing the dogs?

Talking about this, Maneka Gandhi warned, "The problems will not reduce after removing stray dogs. Within two days, lakhs of dogs are expected to come to Delhi from Ghaziabad and Faridabad because there is food available here. As soon as the stray dogs are removed, the monkeys will come down to earth."

Maneka said that she has seen this happening in her own house. Another problem that Maneka Gandhi warned about is the menace of rodents. She gave the example,

In the 1880s, when dogs and cats were removed from the streets of Paris, the entire city was filled with rats.

He defended stray dogs by calling them 'rodent control animals'.

Maneka also warned that following the Supreme Court's order, there could be 'chaos' in the city. When you go to take possession of the dogs, you will have to fight with the people who 'feed' them because they will beat you and drive the dogs away. Maneka said, 'Why are we destabilizing Delhi?'

Maneka alleged that the Supreme Court gave this decision on the basis of a 'false' report of a newspaper, which said that a girl was bitten by dogs and died. Whereas in reality, she died of meningitis. She claimed that 70 percent of the bite cases are by pet dogs. Only 30 percent of stray dogs are involved in such incidents.
