India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted back-to-back successful tests of the indigenous Pralay missile on 28 and 29 July 2025, from APJ Abdul Kalam Island, validating both the maximum and minimum range capabilities of the system.

Accurate Hits, All Objectives Met

Both test flights hit their intended targets with high precision, following the exact trajectory as designed. The missiles' performance was confirmed through tracking data collected from land-based sensors and tracking systems mounted on a ship.

All subsystems performed flawlessly, achieving every test objective. These successful trials were part of the User Evaluation Trials in the presence of scientists from DRDO and representatives from the Indian Air Force and Indian Army.

Key Features of Pralay Missile

• Indigenously developed tactical missile

• Solid-fuel, quasi-ballistic design

Developed primarily at Research Centre Imarat, Pralay is the result of a collaborative effort involving other DRDO labs such as DRDL, ASL, ARDE, HEMRL, and others, along with key defense manufacturing partners like Bharat Dynamics Ltd and Bharat Electronics Ltd.

Official Reactions

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the accomplishment, saying the system would significantly strengthen India's military edge. He congratulated DRDO, the armed forces, and industrial partners for the feat.

DRDO Chairman Dr. Sameer V. Kamat also applauded the teams, confirming that the successful completion of these trials brings the missile closer to induction into active service.

With the success of Pralay’s trials, India takes another firm step in reinforcing its tactical strike arsenal and achieving self-reliance in advanced defense technology.
