In a shocking incident from Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh, a man’s body was recovered under suspicious circumstances from the house of his first wife. The deceased, identified as 40-year-old Manoj Gupta, was found semi-naked with his hands and legs tied and burn marks on his body—later confirmed to be the result of electric shocks. The investigation has now revealed that it was not an accident but a premeditated murder, carried out by his first wife Parvati Gupta in a fit of jealousy and revenge.

The tragic incident took place on July 29 in Adhaura village, under the jurisdiction of City Kotwali police station. According to police reports, Parvati called her husband home on the pretext of a power outage. Unaware of what awaited him, Manoj went to her house, where she tied his limbs and gave him electric shocks using live wires, leading to his painful death. The motive, as revealed during the interrogation, was her unbearable resentment towards his second marriage.

Soon after the incident, Parvati attempted to create a scene to portray the event as an accidental electrocution. She called a local public representative, Dheeraj Singh Dev, claiming both she and Manoj had been injured in an electrical mishap. When Dheeraj reached the spot, he found the door locked from inside and strange noises coming from within. Upon sensing something wrong, he informed the police. When officers arrived and threatened to break open the door, Parvati finally opened it—only to faint dramatically upon seeing the police.

Inside the house, the police found Manoj's lifeless body, tied up and partially unclothed, with electric wires strewn nearby. He was immediately rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Meanwhile, Parvati was admitted for minor injuries and placed under police observation.

The case took a turn when Chandni Pando, Manoj’s second wife, revealed that her husband had left their home saying he was going to fix an electricity issue at Parvati’s house. However, he never returned, and calls to him went unanswered. She suspected foul play and directly accused Parvati of murder.

Police sent Manoj’s body for postmortem, and with the help of forensic evidence and statements, confirmed that the death was a deliberate act of revenge. Interrogation of Parvati led to her confession, following which she was arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand.

The tragic incident underlines the dark side of domestic conflict and jealousy. What began as a long-standing marital dispute over a second marriage, ended in a gruesome and calculated act of murder. Authorities continue to investigate other aspects of the case, but the first wife now faces charges of cold-blooded murder, and a once fractured family lies torn apart forever.
