A shocking case of alleged "love jihad" has surfaced in Mauranipur town, Jhansi district. According to the complaint lodged by a BTC student and her family, a Muslim youth named Afroz, originally from Kadambali, concealed his identity and posed as "Sameer Arya," a Hindu, to build trust and form a relationship. The victim claims Afroz went to considerable lengths to prove his false Hindu identity through altered photos and conversations.

After gaining her trust, Afroz allegedly raped the student. The crisis intensified when, upon discovering his real identity, the victim tried to distance herself. At this point, Afroz reportedly began issuing threats and blackmail, including menacing to leak private photos and videos, and pressuring her into marriage. He allegedly warned that he would commit suicide and implicate her entire family if she refused.

The situation escalated on Monday when Afroz visited the victim's home and staged a dramatic suicide attempt by pretending to swallow poison. Doctors at the local health center confirmed it was a bluff intended to pressure the family.

In response, the victim’s family and Bajrang Dal activists filed a formal complaint at Mauranipur police station, demanding strict action. Bajrang Dal's district convenor Rohit Kushwaha described the incident as a deliberate and premeditated act of love jihad, with new pictures of the accused—showing him posing as a Hindu—circulating widely on social media.

Despite the gravity of the allegations and growing public attention, police officials have so far declined to comment, stating only that the investigation is underway and no arrests have been made. The victim's family continues to call for justice, as Mauranipur police examine the complaint and assess further action.
